Yes, all fights in the state of Kansas are sanctioned by the ABC and the Kansas Athletic Commission.

All amateur and professional mixed martial arts, professional boxing, professional kickboxing and professional wrestling are sanctioned by the commission. Amateur kickboxing can be sanction by the KAC if the promoter wishes, or the promoter can bring in an outside sanctioning body approved by the commission. All jiu-jitsu, grappling and smoker events must be registered with the commission as well.

All fighters must submit a negative HIV test, surface antigen B and hepatitis C anti-virus. Amateur fighters must submit blood work every twelve months, and professionals must submit every six months.

FOR FIGHTERS

• Boxing/MMA

  • Apply for a National MMA ID if you do not have one already. Initial request must be done in person, either at the office of the Commissioner or at an event.
    BOXERS MUST APPLY FOR A FEDERAL BOXING LICENSE IN THEIR STATE OF RESIDENCE.
  • Apply for a license to fight in Kansas
  • Email blood work and any other required medical information to the Kansas Athletic Commission.

• Kickboxing

FOR PROMOTERS

• Boxing/MMA/Kickboxing

  • File an event permit with the Kansas Athletic Commission
  • Apply for a promoters license for the state of Kansas if you do not already have one

• Wrestling

  • File an event permit with the Kansas Athletic Commission
  • All other information can be found in the Promoters Checklist

• Boxing/MMA/Kickboxing

  • $40 for an event permit with the Kansas Athletic Commission
  • Minimum of $450 for inspectors
  • $450 for a physician
  • $150 for a timekeeper
  • Referees and judges will depend on the classification of the event:
    • Professional – $1,200
    • Mixed (Pro and amateur) - $1,000
    • Amateur - $800
  • Each promoter will be given the option of choosing either a five percent fee on gate revenue from the event or paying a flat fee to the commission. The flat rate will be determined by the commission and will be based on a number of criteria.

• Wrestling

  • $175 for an event permit
  • A five percent fee on the gate revenue from the event
