About

Christopher Burnett is a critically acclaimed alto saxophonist, educator, leader, and composer who began his professional career with military jazz bands “going pro” directly upon graduating high school at 18 years old. Over the course of a forty plus year career, Mr. Burnett has performed professionally around the world, recorded noteworthy albums as a leader, taught at the college-level and co-founded a significant independent recording label, Artists Recording Collective. Mr. Burnett has released three albums as a leader. His latest, ‘Firebird’, is being released first as singles on the ARC label. Additional credits include performances, and a new recording with the Dino Massa Kansas City Quintet titled, “Echoes of Europe.” He is an in-demand woodwind instructor and jazz clinician, serving as festival adjudicator and conductor for honors ensembles on many occasions.


Primary Program Description:

Quartet, Quintet, and 10-piece Ensemble performing original compositions and arrangements of works by other composers. The music is refreshing and contemporary, yet grounded in the traditions of America's original art form - "jazz." The musicians are among the finest artists working today.


Program Fee:

  • Quartet - $2,500 + Travel: includes Concert and optional Master Class
  • Quintet - $3,000 + Travel: includes Concert and optional Master Class
  • 10-piece Ensemble - $3,250 + Travel: includes Concert and Artist Talk with the audience before performance.
  • Community Activity: $1,500 includes 1-hour lecture presentation and question/answer interaction.
  • Educational Activity: $500 includes handout materials and PDF of the lesson for educator use only.

Community Activity Information

"The Story of a Song" is a presentation by Mr. Burnett that explores the power of the digital age of the artist as entrepreneur. The Edward Jones Center for Entrepreneurship at Drury University invited Mr. Burnett to be its first speaker in their ‘Self-Employment in the Arts’ series for 2016, and this presentation was well received. Educational Activity Information

"Learning Scales Using Tetrachords" is a master class with a useful lesson plan that empowers musicians at any age or ability level to master a fundamental and vital practical factor of music performance.
