For the third consecutive year, <em>\u00a1KANSAS!<\/em> was a finalist for the Magazine of the Year. Andrea Etzel, Publisher of <em>\u00a1KANSAS!<\/em> y directora de publicaciones de Turismo de Kansas, acept\u00f3 los premios en nombre de la revista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am proud to see <em>\u00a1KANSAS!<\/em> Magazine receiving national recognition for its compelling story telling and illustrations that highlight all the amazing things our great state has to offer,\u201d <strong>ha declarado el Vicegobernador y Secretario de Comercio, David Toland.<\/strong> \u201cThis magazine does a wonderful job of highlighting all the places and things that make Kansas unique, and most importantly, the inspiring people who make up our state.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All three of the Gold Awards were for creative work in the 2023 \u201c<em>Notorious<\/em>\u201d issue, which delved into Kansas\u2019 history of rebels with a cause. Two Gold Awards honored custom caricature illustrations and the magazine cover, both created by Lawrence based artist Torren Thomas. Additionally, art director Shelly Bryant received an Award of Merit for Art Direction of a Single Story. The \u201cNotorious\u201d issue also earned a Gold Award in the Historic Feature category for the story \u201c<em>City of Sorrow,<\/em>\u201d written by Will Haynes. This features recounts Quantrill\u2019s Raid on the community of Lawrence, 160 years after the horrific event, and was praised by a judge as \u201cfeeling like a Ken Burns documentary on paper.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El reconocimiento final para <em>\u00a1KANSAS!<\/em> Magazine was being honored as a finalist for Magazine of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis magazine delivers on its promise to capture the essence of Kansas in its content,\u201d one judged commented. \u201cMarried with sophisticated layouts and design elements it is a very well-thought-out magazine. Great variety of content that celebrates the history of the state, local fair, talent and community members.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a finalist, it acknowledges the magazine\u2019s talented team of editors, writers, photographers and artists who are passionate about sharing and celebrating the best of Kansas with its readers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Publicado por Kansas Tourism, una divisi\u00f3n del Departamento de Comercio de Kansas, <em>\u00a1KANSAS!<\/em> is the premier subscription lifestyle magazine of the Sunflower State. The awards were granted for work published in 2023 and judged by independent panels of experts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u00a1KANSAS! <\/em>Magazine is available by subscription for $20 per year.
