{"id":71664,"date":"2025-02-11T17:36:11","date_gmt":"2025-02-11T22:36:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kansascommerce.gov\/?p=71664"},"modified":"2025-02-11T17:40:01","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T22:40:01","slug":"commerce-hosts-czech-republic-and-animal-health-experts-for-virtual-roundtable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kansascommerce.gov\/es\/2025\/02\/commerce-hosts-czech-republic-and-animal-health-experts-for-virtual-roundtable\/","title":{"rendered":"Commerce Hosts Czech Republic and Animal Health Experts for Virtual Roundtable"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1440\" height=\"810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kansascommerce.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/AnimalHealth_hero_1440px.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23643\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kansascommerce.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/AnimalHealth_hero_1440px.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/www.kansascommerce.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/AnimalHealth_hero_1440px-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kansascommerce.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/AnimalHealth_hero_1440px-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.kansascommerce.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/AnimalHealth_hero_1440px-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The International Division of the Kansas Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago, hosted an online Animal Health Roundtable last week focusing on best practices in biosecurity and food security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The overarching goal for the roundtable was to strengthen existing and new relationships between Kansas and Czechia \u2014 to open the door to collaborate, create partnerships, and discuss investments and trade opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe roundtable connected researchers, corporations and entrepreneurs from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean that are actively engaged in commercialization efforts,\u201d <strong>El Vicegobernador y Secretario de Comercio, David Toland, declar\u00f3<\/strong>. \u201cNot only are we working on common pursuits that improve and expand value chains for all, we are pursuing strategic opportunities that will strengthen both of our economies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the event, professionals from the Czech Republic and Kansas discussed how they are addressing important issues in areas such as animal welfare, animal and zoonotic diseases, food processing and manufacturing, and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis event is an important and concrete step forward in our shared efforts,\u201d <strong>Czech Consul General Jakub Uteseny said.<\/strong> \u201cNot only are we reinforcing our existing ties, but also fostering new connections and taking collaboration between Czechia and Kansas to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Agriculture for the Czech Republic amongst others such as the State Veterinary Section of the Czech Republic, Czech University of Life Sciences, University of South Bohemia, Cymedica, Genomia Laboratory and Addicoo, represented the government, higher education and industry-specific topics in animal health for Czechia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The roundtable also featured experts and industry leaders from the Kansas Department of Agriculture, National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility, MS Biotech\/Axiota, Elanco Animal Health, Hill\u2019s Pet Nutrition, Plug and Play, BioNexus KC and Kansas State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world class researchers, facilities at K-State and the collaboration between researchers and industry internationally were highlighted throughout the roundtable. Kansas State is a leader in animal health, and its strengths are core to its land grant mission, which puts the institution\u2019s research and development into a global context. The university has established a research campus designed to facilitate public-private partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf we do good in Kansas, we do good for the world,\u201d <strong>Executive Vice President for External Engagement and Chief of Staff at K-State Dr. Marshall Stewart said<\/strong>. \u201cThe research campus allows the university to work collaboratively with industry not only around the country, but around the world on solving the grand challenges that are related to food, agriculture and animal health.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s truly inspiring to witness the exceptional quality of presentations and strong interest in collaborative opportunities,\u201d <strong>Commerce International Director Laura Lombard said<\/strong>. \u201cWe sincerely appreciate the valuable contributions of all those who helped
