It is a type of work-based training designed to ensure employees of a company can acquire the skills necessary to retain employment and advance within the company, or to acquire the skills necessary to avert a layoff.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Incumbent Worker Training is responsive to the special requirements of an employer or group of employers for the purposes of delivering training to:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Help avert potential layoffs of employees<\/li><li>Increase the skill levels of employees so they can be promoted within the company and create backfill opportunities for the employers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Priority will be given to projects that:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Address a strategy to avoid a significant layoff<\/li><li>Identify a model that will make Kansas\u2019 current or future workforce more competitive&nbsp;<\/li><li>Allow employees to achieve significant upgrade in skills<\/li><li>Operate industries or programs that have been targeted by the Local Workforce Development Board<\/li><li>Address a significant occupational demand<\/li><li>Demonstrate strong partnerships with a Local Workforce Development Board in the identification, development and delivery of the project<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Incumbent Worker Training program is funded by the Federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/agencies\/eta\/wioa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act<\/a> and administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce and <a href=\"https:\/\/ksworksstateboard.org\/local-boards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Local Workforce Development Board<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n        <div
