The Freestate Network will allow providers to connect Kansas communities by enabling high-speed internet infrastructure for residents and businesses across Kansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Freestate Middle Mile Network, which is publicly funded and publicly owned, showcases our state\u2019s financial stewardship and strategic approach to improving the digital landscape,\u201d <strong>\u3068\u30c7\u30d3\u30c3\u30c9\u30fb\u30c8\u30fc\u30e9\u30f3\u30c9\u526f\u77e5\u4e8b\u517c\u5546\u52d9\u9577\u5b98\u306f\u8a9e\u3063\u305f\u3002<\/strong>. \u201cIt not only brings federal dollars into Kansas but ensures those dollars stay here by supporting our communities and driving local economic growth.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will focus on:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expanding access to high-capacity national and regional broadband networks in rural communities\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening public safety, transportation systems, and vital community services\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Launching fiber leasing opportunities for local providers in 2025\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBroadband expansion is a critical piece of connectivity to improve quality of life and economic prosperity in our communities,\u201d <strong>\u524d\u8a18<\/strong> <strong>Kansas Department of Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed<\/strong>. \u201cThe Freestate Network is an innovative partnership that leverages our state\u2019s existing highway infrastructure to keep Kansans moving forward with expanded digital opportunities.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Freestate Middle Mile Network groundbreaking will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Emporia State University.
