These investments are aimed at strengthening infrastructure, housing, and economic opportunities in rural and low- to moderate-income communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCommunities throughout Kansas need partners as they work to rehabilitate housing, revitalize community facilities, and build safe playgrounds and attractions,\u201d <strong>\u30c7\u30d3\u30c3\u30c9\u30fb\u30c8\u30fc\u30e9\u30f3\u30c9\u526f\u77e5\u4e8b\u517c\u5546\u52d9\u9577\u5b98\u306f\u6b21\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u8ff0\u3079\u305f\u3002<\/strong>. \u201cThe CDBG program provides lasting, positive change through infrastructure advancements and quality-of-life improvements \u2014 all together growing local economies and creating stronger towns across the state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 19 awardees received a total of $7,690,591 in federal funds, which was matched by $9,885,173 in local investments. The result was a combined total of $17,575,764 to be used for public improvements across Kansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Projects awarded in this round include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Arkansas City, $300,000<\/strong> \u2013 Rehabilitating five housing units, including four owner-occupied homes, and demolishing two vacant blighted structures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Auburn, $312,779<\/strong> \u2013 Revitalizing Auburn Civic Center Park with a new basketball and pickleball court, fencing, facility lighting and more<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bronson, $199,575<\/strong> \u2013 Replacing playground equipment and constructing ADA-accessible sidewalks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Carbondale, $650,000<\/strong> \u2013 Building multi-purpose sport courts, a toddler play area, facility lighting and sidewalks to the park<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chapman, $300,000<\/strong> \u2013 Restoring the second floor of the historic Buhrer Opera House for future commercial use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chase, $650,000 <\/strong>\u2013 Upgrading the wastewater system to replace deteriorated sewer mains and lift stations to reduce infiltration and inflow<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Delphos, $650,000 <\/strong>\u2013 Redeveloping a downtown park with a new playground, small splash pad, restroom and accessibility upgrades<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ellsworth, $300,000<\/strong> \u2013 Rehabilitating seven houses and demolishing five vacant, dilapidated structures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emporia, $750,000<\/strong> \u2013 Installing a synthetic turf soccer field, refurbishing an existing field and building an ADA-accessible restroom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enterprise, $650,000 <\/strong>\u2013 Upgrading park amenities including pool improvements, splash features, shade structures, concessions, restrooms and fencing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Girard, $72,000 <\/strong>\u2013 Purchasing new safety gear for volunteer firefighters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Grinnell, $56,237<\/strong> \u2013 Replacing 40 tornado-damaged water meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hill City, $650,000<\/strong> \u2013 Reconstructing 3.5 blocks of Prout Street, including curbs, gutters and drainage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Junction City, $300,000<\/strong> \u2013 Upgrading structures and making fa\u00e7ade improvements to Highwind Brewing as an event space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kingman, $300,000<\/strong> \u2013 Restoring the historic Kingman Bank Building for commercial use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leon, $50,000<\/strong> \u2013 Replacing two obsolete storm sirens with a new unit near City Hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lyndon, $650,000 <\/strong>\u2013 Expanding and rehabilitating the local library with ADA access, fa\u00e7ade repairs and site drainage improvements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sterling, $750,000<\/strong> \u2013 Installing more than 6,000 feet of new waterlines to serve a proposed business development site<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sumner County, $100,000<\/strong> \u2013 Covering tuition, books and tools for income-eligible students attending Cowley College<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur rural towns have the passion for advancing quality of life in their communities \u2014 but sometimes lack the resources to take on necessary projects,\u201d <strong>Assistant Secretary of Quality Places Matt Godinez said<\/strong>. \u201cCDBG awards are more than just a check \u2014 they match the heart and vision of our
