Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland today announced the Kansas Department of Commerce awarded over $1.3 million in Historic Economic Asset Lifeline (HEAL) grant funding to support 15 building renovation projects across the state. When matched with nearly $3.9 million in local contributions, this round of HEAL funding brings the total investment to approximately $5.2 million available to revitalize downtown buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur HEAL program continues to drive meaningful economic growth across Kansas by turning underutilized historic buildings into engines for new business activity and investment,\u201d \u30c7\u30d3\u30c3\u30c9\u30fb\u30c8\u30fc\u30e9\u30f3\u30c9\u526f\u77e5\u4e8b\u517c\u5546\u52d9\u9577\u5b98\u306f\u6b21\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u8ff0\u3079\u305f\u3002<\/strong>. \u201cThese projects create opportunities for entrepreneurs, attract additional local funding, and strengthen the long-term economic vitality of our rural communities while preserving their unique character.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By providing matching grants through a competitive process, HEAL helps communities transform dilapidated and underutilized spaces into thriving hubs for businesses, housing, childcare, arts, civic activities and entrepreneurship. These awards are specifically designed to revitalize rural downtown districts throughout Kansas. In doing so, HEAL fosters reinvestment, encourages community engagement, and boosts the overall economic health of Kansas communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Administered by the Kansas Office of Rural Prosperity, the HEAL grant program has helped or is currently transforming more than 100 buildings in rural Kansas communities.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince the start of the HEAL program in 2021, we\u2019ve witnessed the impact it has had on our rural downtowns,\u201d \u8fb2\u6751\u7e41\u6804\u5c40\u306e\u30c8\u30ea\u30b7\u30e3\u30fb\u30d1\u30fc\u30c9\u30f3\u5c40\u9577\u306f\u6b21\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u8ff0\u3079\u305f\u3002<\/strong>. \u201cThese kinds of projects bring new jobs, spaces for our entrepreneurs, unique housing opportunities and spaces for community members to gather \u2014 all of which are aimed to grow economic prosperity in our small towns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
