EMMBI is administered by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and is focused on the construction, improvement, or acquisition of middle mile broadband infrastructure. An open-access, middle mile network is important to Governor Kelly\u2019s goal to bring high-speed, affordable broadband to every Kansas home and business as it allows for multiple providers to enter new markets in underserved areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u80cc\u666f<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State of Kansas Departments of Commerce (the applicant) and Transportation (KDOT) (project partner) are working together with private and non-profit partners to create a 670-mile open-access middle mile fiber optic and network, with plans to connect multiple new internet exchange points throughout the state. The purpose of the project is to connect to multiple new internet points throughout the state and offer dark fiber for last-mile service providers that have the capabilities to light the fiber and need the scalability associated with dark fiber access. The proposed route will provide lit service access to support smaller ISPs as well as other providers with smaller project scopes that prefer lit services to deploying their own fiber or electronics. This will enable last mile providers with a range of objectives to connect to this network and access end users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066<\/strong> <strong>\u30d5\u30ea\u30fc\u30b9\u30c6\u30fc\u30c8\u30fb\u30df\u30c9\u30eb\u30de\u30a4\u30eb\u30fb\u30cd\u30c3\u30c8\u30ef\u30fc\u30af<\/strong> will support the needs of last-mile service providers, increase capabilities for anchor institutions, enable connections to unserved and underserved households, and increase competition in local markets, thereby creating more affordable service Additional construction, permitting, or extraordinary engineering work may result in additional charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lit Fiber<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Middle Mile Network Interconnection: ISPs can connect by accessing the middle mile network at designated network interconnection points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vault Access Points: Fiber access vaults are strategically placed at road intersections along the dark fiber path. For new fiber interconnections and circuit builds, a $5,000 interconnection cost applies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PoP Connections: Point of Presence (PoP) sites provisioned with add-drop equipment are available for network integration. A $500 circuit setup fee is required for this option. Interconnection fees can be waived in certain hardship conditions, matters of economic priority for the state, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deploy Own PoP\/Hand-Off Location: ISPs can use their own fiber to bring the network connections to their own PoP or hand-off location within the LIT services coverage area.
