The application deadline is October 9, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CDT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Poet Laureate of Kansas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Poet Laureate of Kansas cultivates public awareness of poetry, champions the literary arts, and engages with audiences and communities throughout Kansas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who May Apply? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have been a Kansas resident for the previous three years, must remain a Kansas resident throughout the entire Poet Laureate term, and be available to travel statewide. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicants must also demonstrate distinction in the field of poetry through a significant body of publicly accessible work and have published at least three qualifying
