Among other awards and recognition, she is a recipient of the Kansas Governor’s Arts Award. She is known as a premier singer and keyboardist who organically combines the influences of many roots music forms – blues, soul, gospel, folk and Americana – into her own unique artistic identity. Performance length can range from :60 to :90 depending on the event and can comprise multiple sets. All performances feature her catalog of original music and, at times, a few unique arrangements of other music she adds to the mix. Kelley Hunt is a skilled and accomplished workshops and master class presenter having provided programs that range from interactive sessions for elementary school students to high schools, junior colleges, and universities on up to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. For 16 years she as co-hosted the Brave Voice Writing and Singing For Your Life retreat and Workshops with acclaimed novelist and former Kansas Poet Laureate Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg which annually attracts participants from all over the US and parts of Canada. Workshops programs can include songwriting, piano performance, vocal performance, and a specialty working with choral groups of all sizes and levels. In an academic setting she consults with the relevant instructor or professor to customize her program to the objectives and curriculum of each class and setting as much as possible.
