Who's Eligible?

To be eligible for Student Loan Repayments, individuals must:

  • Establish domicile* in a ROZ County after July 1, 2011 AND on or after the date on which the County opts-in to the student loan program
  • Establish domicile* in a ROZ County after July 1, 2011 AND on or after the date on which the County opts-in to the student loan program
  • Hold an associate's, bachelor's or post-graduate degree prior to moving to the ROZ County
  • Have an outstanding student loan balance in applicant’s name
  • Ability to provide proof of: residency at current and previous addresses, Degree, and student loan balance with distribution dates
  • Have a Sponsor. Counties and Employers can sponsor applicants in this program. the Applicant must have a sponsor to receive funding.

Student Loan Repayment Application

Applications for Student Loan Repayment are accepted from Jan. 1st through Sept. 30th.

The deadline for 2018 applications has passed, please check back at the start of the new year for new applications. In the mean time, you can prepare for the new application season by preparing the following:

  • Student Loan Repayment Application
  • (Application deadline has passed.)
  • Personal Identification (Driver's License, State ID, ETC.)
  • Proof of previous address before moving to the ROZ County
  • Proof of ROZ County residency
  • Degree
  • Transcripts
  • Proof of student loan balance with distribution dates
  • Kansas Tax Clearance
  • Know who your sponsor is: County or Employer. To find out if your county has funding available for new applicants please contact your County Clerk.

Yes, Applicants should continue making any payments required by their lender(s).

Yes. You will need to send confirmation for each payment to Commerce and the sum of the payments must equal the amount sent to you by Commerce.

Checks will issue on an annual basis in late fall.

In October of your first payment year, we will send you a letter with instructions for completing your enrollment and ROZ payment agreement. You will complete the documents and return them to Commerce. We will then work with the counties to receive the matching funds. Payments will be entered by the end of November and checks will arrive throughout the following 4 weeks.

No. Eligibility for ROZ student loan repayment does not transfer.

Yes. Confirmation of your residency in the county is required each year before issuing a payment. Failure to respond by the deadline provided will result in loss of approved status.

No. Commerce only considers the loan balances accrued by the date of application to be eligible.

Please contact Commerce to update your address.

Upon receiving the check, you must send a payment in that amount to your lender(s). You will then send a payment receipt or payment history to Commerce to confirm the payment was applied to your student loan account(s). This is required in order to approve you for the next payment.
