kansas health profession opportunity project (KHPOP)

The Kansas Health Profession Opportunity Project (KHPOP) is an innovative approach to provide education, training and employment in the healthcare sector to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients and other low-income individuals.

Eligible individuals could potentially receive training tied to high-demand occupations in select healthcare fields. Partnerships between state agencies benefit qualified individuals by expanding opportunity for an improved quality of life through education, while simultaneously reducing healthcare labor shortages and reducing the number of individuals on public assistance in Kansas.

This document was supported by Grant 90FX0047-01-01 from the Administration of Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). Its content are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of HHS.

HPOG is a study funded by the federal government which is being conducted to determine how these training opportunities help people improve their skills and find better jobs. During the study, all new eligible applicants will be selected by lottery to participate in these training opportunities. Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate in these opportunities.
