Visual artist Kayann Ausherman creates mixed-media paintings, cards, stickers and more from her studio and home in Reno County, Kansas. Her work is inspired by creation, her many children, literature, and the whimsy found in everyday life. She works with papers, paint, cleaning agents (ex: Citra-Solv,) fiber, and anything else she finds inspiring. A distinguishing aspect of her work and philosophy is a love for life, words, and color. Kayann participates in several art shows every year and teaches workshops from her studio and on the road.
Ausherman has a passion for making art and creativity accessible for everyone, so she has created her workshops to be appropriate for novice and experienced makers. She provides all the supplies needed unless otherwise specified. Workshops range from collage, stamp carving, and painting techniques, to working with Citra-Solv. Contact her to see what workshop best fits your community’s needs.
She has presented workshops for adults and children and can be available to present an art workshop for upper elementary ages or library programming. Her art also rotates to various public galleries and could be displayed in your community, depending on availability. She has also hosted a community painting project.
For art workshops, fees vary based on location, supplies, and number of participants. For 6-hour workshops hosted in her studio, (lunch provided by participants) fees range from $50- $80 per person. For workshops hosted in your community, there is a minimum $600 fee, with additional charges for more than 8 participants, plus travel expenses. For school-age workshops, there is a $200 minimum for up to 10 participants. Contact her for more specific pricing according to your needs. To host a community painting, there is a $300 minimum. Additional fees may apply depending on the size of the project.
When scheduling workshops, art shows, and presentations, she prefers to work six months out. Sometimes she can fit something in with less notice, so feel free to reach out with your idea. Her preferred audience for workshops is a group of 10-15 people ready to learn and play with art. She works with ages 12 and up more frequently, but she has created programming for younger audiences.
