Richard Renner — The Man, The Myth, The Klown
Actor. Juggler. Orangutan. Poet. Fool.
All of these describe Richard Renner as he delivers his signature blend of physical comedy and heartfelt humor. Whether he’s juggling, unicycling, ropewalking, or improvising something wonderfully absurd on the spot, Richard performs with boundless energy and impeccable skill.
After graduating from the University of Kansas in 1981 with a degree in theatre, he invested years—and a modest fortune—studying with legendary masters: Marcel Marceau, the iconic French mime; Yuri Belov, the renowned Russian clown; and Avner the Eccentric, a pioneer of the New Vaudeville movement. Following a stint with Kansas City’s Mimewock Company, Richard launched his solo career as a company of one, which quickly multiplied as he realized just how many characters were living in his head.
Since then, he has performed across nearly every state in the U.S., the warmer corners of Canada, and the most beautiful stretches of Mexico. Laughter, he’s found, is a universal passport.
In 1988, after meeting countless kindred spirits in the world of variety arts, Richard founded the Vodvill Entertainment Company to champion performers throughout the Midwest. Today, it remains a thriving enterprise with a roster of more than 100 unique acts.
ドタバタサーカス
The Slapstick Circus is a 30–45 minute one-man whirlwind featuring Richard Renner as the VodVill Klown, blending circus skills with classic pantomime. A mostly silent show—aside from the occasional well-timed scream—it’s packed with physical comedy, pratfalls, and hilarious mishaps. Objects misbehave, machines rebel, and every failure becomes a triumph as the Klown pushes the possibilities of circus arts in the real world.
Audiences will be surprised by motorized unicycling, balancing acts with cleaning tools, and full “band music” played with hardware supplies.
This show is ideal for outdoor festivals and school assemblies thanks to its minimal technical needs. It can also be paired with strolling entertainment as part of a special festival package.
The ReCycle Show
