Carr, Kerr & Co. creates work rooted in a love for possibility, especially the kind that grows in small towns and unexpected corners. Their projects celebrate the spirit of Kansas: humble, humorous, deeply neighborly, and fiercely proud of place.

Taylor Carr is a Midwest creative and home-grown Kansan known for playful, iconic illustrations (if you have a sticker with local flair, she probably made it). Her design eye is unmistakable– bright, clean, and instantly recognizable across storefronts, community events, and the streets of MHK.

Jess Kerr is a Manhattan transplant with rock-solid Midwestern roots and an enthusiasm for organized creativity. Equal parts community organizer, mural mom, and spreadsheet enthusiast, she is the pragmatic counterbalance to Carr’s creative flow. While she has not convinced Taylor to enjoy running, she has successfully converted their collaborations into highly effective, mutually beloved spreadsheets.

Together, Carr and Kerr are drawn to public art because of its power to build community, create shared experiences, and spark pride in the everyday environment. They believe public art should be accessible, joyful, and grounded in the people who live alongside it.

Their artistic partnership began during the Covid-19 pandemic with a simple text inviting a friend to a driveway “wth!?#? happy hour.” That small moment of human connection snowballed into mural painting, collective healing, a renewed sense of place, and, most importantly– the joyful pursuit of “dumb things” that bring people together.

Whether designing small-scale visual moments or large-format murals, Carr, Kerr & Co. approaches every project with humor, heart, and a commitment to strengthening community. Their work aims to make people pause, smile, and feel more connected to Kansas and each other.

During mural installations, Carr, Kerr & Co. welcomes opportunities to involve the community and celebrate the creativity happening in their town. They are open to hosting community paint days, participating in local events, engaging with media, and supporting any activity that brings people together around the artwork. Their goal is to create not only a mural, but a moment—sparking connection, pride, and shared joy in the place they call home.

• Manhattan, KS (MHK): Their signature Chamber mural, celebrating the vibrancy of the Little Apple, gained national visibility when it was featured in the hit HBO series Somebody Somewhere.
• Clay Center, KS: Contributed to the community’s growing outdoor art movement with a piece designed to spark joy and small-town pride.
• Humboldt, KS: Created a mural aligned with the town’s innovative spirit and its ongoing efforts in rural revitalization and creative placemaking.
• Great Bend, KS: Partnered with the local health department to design a community-centered piece of artwork that reflects the region’s natural beauty and county’s focus on health residents.
• Emporia, KS: Installed a mural inspired by Emporia’s energy, arts community, and strong sense of local identity.
