について

This collective of tattoo artists and muralists based at Looking Glass Tattoo & Gallery in Topeka, Kansas works together under the name Inky Quills Coalition, a group dedicated to creating meaningful public art throughout Kansas.

The team blends fine art, tattoo artistry, and community-centered design to produce murals that celebrate local history, culture, and shared spaces. They collaborate with schools, nonprofits, neighborhoods, and community organizations to create artwork that brings people together, tells local stories, and adds beauty to public environments. In addition to mural execution, they offer educational engagement through workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on community participation.

Community and Educational Activity Information

They offer a range of community-centered and educational activities designed to engage people of all ages and skill levels:

  • Design feedback sessions for schools, youth programs, and community groups
  • Hands-on mural workshops (projector use, scaling, brush techniques, paint safety, color mixing)
  • Community paint days coordinated alongside larger public mural projects
  • Artist talks and lectures on mural design, storytelling through art, and public art planning
  • Live demonstrations showcasing mural techniques or tattoo-influenced drawing styles
  • Classroom or after-school sessions on creativity, symbolism, and public art process

Their goal is always to foster creativity, build community pride, and make public art accessible and participatory.
