The Regional Director position will develop and implement programs to support community and local development efforts focused on business retention, market growth, and community revitalization across Kansas. Represents the agency at various economic development meetings and events. 

This position serves the following counties in Kansas: Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Geary, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Morris, Osborne, Ottawa, Pottawatomie, Republic, Riley, Russell, Saline, Smith, Wabaunsee, and Washington.

Responsibilities:

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the state’s diverse and often complex business and community development programs, including state and federal financing options.

Explains program benefits and application processes to clients in a clear and effective manner.

Assists clients in identifying and utilizing local, state, federal, private, or public resources to advance their projects.

Advocates for stakeholders and promotes collaboration to support community and business development initiatives.

Communicates with entrepreneurs, company executives, and community leaders to support business retention and expansion efforts in Kansas.

Provides technical expertise and strategic guidance to in-state business prospects.

Pay Range: $58,240.00 to $62,400.00 annually

Ready to put Kansas on the global map? As an International Project Manager, you’ll help attract international businesses to the Sunflower State. From managing global client portfolios and creating incentive proposals to coordinating overseas visits and guiding site selection—you’ll be the go-to expert for foreign direct investment. You’ll also collaborate with international staff, build global partnerships, and represent Kansas at high-level meetings and events. If you’re passionate about economic development and global strategy, this role is your gateway to global influence.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in international investment recruitment by servicing a portfolio of potential investment clients and managing a tracking database for prospects.
  • Manages overseas contract staff working on international marketing initiatives in specified region and develops strategies to attract new international investment from key market areas and support existing investors.
  • Develops government and business contacts throughout the world to form a network of partners in support of the State’s economic opportunities.
  • Develops foreign direct investment opportunities for the State’s economy at a rate consistent with the agency plan.
  • Represents the department and the division at various meetings with professional organizations, international business associations, Chambers of Commerce, and community leaders to familiarize them with the activities and services of the agency and/or division and determine where opportunities for assistance or cooperation might exist.
  • Hosts or assists with hosting foreign trade delegations and government officials. Provides briefing materials and conducts research to identify Kansas companies or organizations that will benefit from meetings and discussions with visiting delegations or government officials.

Pay Range: $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 annually

Senior International Business Representative-Topeka-217018

The Senior International Business Representative develops and executes marketing strategies to attract international investment, focusing on Western Europe, Asia, and Canada, with secondary efforts in Australia and South America. The role oversees overseas contract staff, manages investment missions, and maintains a portfolio of prospects and tracking systems. It also coordinates high-level trade missions and builds strong relationships with community groups to support the agency’s goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Works to develop, organize and implement marketing policies and strategies designed to attract new international investment from the primary market areas of Western Europe, Asia, and Canada and second regions such as Australia and South America.
  • Supervises overseas contract staff working on international investment recruitment projects and participates in investment missions where direct contact is made with prospective investors
  • Leads investment recruitment by servicing a portfolio of potential investment clients and managing a prospect-tracking database.
  • Evaluates investment recruitment programs and performance in relation to the goals and objectives of the division and the agency.
  • Manage trade and investment missions (including Governor-led, Secretary of Commerce, and Team Kansas missions, as well as staff-only missions)
  • Directs and coordinates all aspects of mission activity including identification of corporate contacts, solicitation of mission participants, definition of scope and scale of mission itinerary, coordination with contract vendors, and coordination with agency marketing staff on public relations issues and development of foreign language-based promotional materials. 
  • Develops and identifies opportunities to maintain frequent contact with community groups to communicate the agency’s mission to interested parties. 

Pay Range: $94,000.00 annually

Veterans Workforce Services Specialist-Dodge City-217630

ポジションの概要

The Veterans Workforce Services Specialist provides case management to assist veterans and other eligible job seekers in achieving employment goals. Delivers targeted services to Unemployment Insurance claimants at risk of exhausting benefits. Conducts outreach to identify and engage eligible veterans, maintains a presence at workforce events, and serves as a liaison with employers to promote and expand the use of Workforce Center services and programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides overview of Workforce services to customers
  • Performs detailed intake and comprehensive assessment interviews to determine job seeker’s education, interests, work history, barriers to employment, economic and family status, and career goals
  • Assists customers with job searches, resume and cover letter preparation, completing applications for employment, holds mock interviews with customers, and educates customer on interviewing techniques
  • Provides customers information about program services, job requirements, occupational opportunities, and training programs and makes referrals to appropriate partner services
  • Maintains electronic case file in KANSASWORKS.com for each participant in accordance with federal and state policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines
  • Provides case management services for Unemployment Insurance claimants identified as likely to exhaust benefits
  • Conducts outreach activities, for the purpose of locating, identifying and seeking referrals of eligible veterans

This is technical and specialized work planning, implementing and monitoring program activities as they relate to assisting Military Veterans.  Daily environment includes continuous contact with the public and requires a valid driver’s license or ability to travel as needed to conduct outreach and connect with local employers, partners, and veterans to include ability to obtain access to Fort Riley.
