Acerca de

The Radicles are an eclectic rock band from the heart of the heartland, Salina, Kansas. The broad range of rock genres they play — ranging from blues and country inflected, to psychedelic, progressive, even metal — reflect the wide influences and inspiration of their members. Listeners may also catch snippets of jazz, classical, folk, funk, and global melodies and rhythms from a band that embraces curiosity and experimentation. One of the most common reasons returning audience members give for their interest in the band is “you never know what styles and songs you will hear at a Radicles show!” The Radicles play both covers and original music. They emphasize strong songwriting, with interesting chord and tempo changes in their own compositions. The band has released three albums in the past five years: Semilla, Persimmon for Megan Gladbachy Root. The Radicles have performed at a wide range of Kansas venues and events including: Wichita Festival of the Arts, Salina’s Smoky Hill River Festival, Cawker City Twine-a-thon, Legion Fest in Ellsworth, Assaria Pride Fall Festival, Svensk Hyllningsfest in Lindsborg, Salina Marathon, Salina Public Library events, Salina’s Feast on the Fe, the first Salina Community Mental Health Day, and many more. The band’s members each have extensive performing experience in their own right and collectively bring their expertise and professionalism to the band. Members include:

Anita Chase: voice/guitar: has sung, played, written, toured and released albums with multiple across the Midwest, chiefly rockgrrl power trio 1/2 Mad Poet from Wichita/Chicago and Americana-styled Matthew Morgan & the Lost Brigade on CAU Dog Records in Chicago.

Bill Martin: bass guitar/voice; retired after twenty-eight years as a philosophy professor at DePaul University in Chicago, so that he could make music and write philosophy full-time in Salina, Kansas. His playing comes out of the period of Motown, the Beatles, and classic rock – especially British progressive rock such as King Crimson and YES.

Rodney Goodwin: keyboards/guitar/voice/percussion; came from a background in leading and creating worship music. These experiences helped develop his strong improvisational skills and a love for the theatrical rock of the 70s led to an ability to play both dramatic solos and create atmospheric mood. Daniel Goodwin: drums; started drum lessons at 11 with a national champion drummer and has since brought both energy and texture from punk and hard rock bands to be expressed in versatile ways with the more eclectic music of The Radicles
