Sally Vee is an award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in the Flint Hills of Kansas who draws inspiration mostly from nature and her favorite authors and poets. With a degree in music performance, she has been afforded many opportunities to play in various ensembles including Mannheim Steamroller, Cirque du Soleil, countless musicals and operas, The Konza Wind Quintet, and The Salina Symphony. Sally currently teaches private lessons at the Flint Hills Academy of Music.
Sally has also been an Artist-In-Residence in Mississippi as well as Kansas. Sally attends the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS where several of her songs have been chosen as category winners in the WVF New Songs Showcase competition and in 2025, she and fellow songwriter Elexa Dawson presented WVF’s first Youth Songwriting Workshop. Sally was a WVF Main Stage Artist in 2024 with the band “Sally and The Hurts” and performs each year on the campground stages. During the festival, she plays M.C. to a full evening of performances hosted by Camp Lit On The Low Road called “Thursday Night Under The Lights” which features eighteen campground bands performing under a canopy of festive lights. This all-acoustic evening of performances draws hundreds of roving listeners through the camp and gives campground bands a place to shine.
Sally has performed Private Showcases at Folk Alliance International the past several years in Kansas City, Montreal, and New Orleans and recently received a scholarship to attend Folk Alliance Region Midwest 2025 in Illinois. Released on May 27th 2020, her band’s self-produced debut album “Wild Life” houses fifteen original songs written by Sally including feature tracks “Wild Life”, “His Name Was Jody”, and “In the Grave”. Her most recent work “Swamp Songs” is a self-produced, full-length concept album of thirteen original tunes released on April 22nd, 2023 in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the Westside Trail and Spring Wings event at Lee Tartt Nature Preserve and Chakchiuma Swamp in Grenada, Mississippi. All proceeds from sales of the album are being donated to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Friends of Chakchiuma Swamp to help fund educational programs, boardwalk / trail signage repairs, and other miscellaneous needs of the nature preserve. She is currently fine-tuning songs to be included on her third studio album entitled “Volland” which has a release date of May 2026.
