In Kansas, Registered Apprenticeship is more than a workforce development strategy—it is a competitive advantage. Since 2022, employer participation has grown by 228%, with more than 4,050 active apprentices across the state in 2026. This growth reflects Kansas’ commitment to building a skilled workforce that meets the needs of employers today and into the future.
Through Registered Apprenticeship, employers partner with education and workforce organizations to develop skilled talent through paid, hands-on training and industry-recognized credentials. Apprentices earn while they learn, while employers benefit from stronger recruitment, improved retention, and a reliable talent pipeline.
The Kansas Office of Apprenticeship (KOA) supports the development and expansion of Registered Apprenticeship programs across the state and administers the Kansas Apprenticeship Council (KAC), which ensures programs meet state and federal apprenticeship standards.
Visión: Growing Beyond 10,001 Apprentices by 2031, focusing on Quality and Sustainability
Misión: To meet the needs of the Kansas economy and its citizens, the office of Apprenticeship will actively grow a robust system that supports our apprenticeship stakeholders, sponsors, intermediaries, and apprentices. We do this by strategically empowering partnerships that serve a diverse and inclusive workforce through occupational proficiency, for generations to come.
This grant specifically targets small businesses with fewer than 10 full-time employees and will provide $7,000 one-time grants to support the registration of new apprentices in high-wage, high-demand occupations.
This grant provides seed funding for long-term investments in the expansion of new or established Registered Apprenticeship programs in rural Kansas with populations under 50,000.
