The Regional Director position will develop and implement programs to support community and local development efforts focused on business retention, market growth, and community revitalization across Kansas. Represents the agency at various economic development meetings and events. 

This position serves the following counties in Kansas: Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Geary, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Morris, Osborne, Ottawa, Pottawatomie, Republic, Riley, Russell, Saline, Smith, Wabaunsee, and Washington.

Responsibilities:

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the state’s diverse and often complex business and community development programs, including state and federal financing options.

Explains program benefits and application processes to clients in a clear and effective manner.

Assists clients in identifying and utilizing local, state, federal, private, or public resources to advance their projects.

Advocates for stakeholders and promotes collaboration to support community and business development initiatives.

Communicates with entrepreneurs, company executives, and community leaders to support business retention and expansion efforts in Kansas.

Provides technical expertise and strategic guidance to in-state business prospects.

Pay Range: $58,240.00 to $62,400.00 annually

The Senior International Business Representative develops and executes marketing strategies to attract international investment, focusing on Western Europe, Asia, and Canada, with secondary efforts in Australia and South America. The role oversees overseas contract staff, manages investment missions, and maintains a portfolio of prospects and tracking systems. It also coordinates high-level trade missions and builds strong relationships with community groups to support the agency’s goals.

Responsibilities:

• Works to develop, organize and implement marketing policies and strategies designed to attract new international investment from the primary market areas of Western Europe, Asia, and Canada and second regions such as Australia and South America.
• Supervises overseas contract staff working on international investment recruitment projects and participates in investment missions where direct contact is made with prospective investors
• Leads investment recruitment by servicing a portfolio of potential investment clients and managing a prospect-tracking database.
• Evaluates investment recruitment programs and performance in relation to the goals and objectives of the division and the agency.
• Manage trade and investment missions (including Governor-led, Secretary of Commerce, and Team Kansas missions, as well as staff-only missions)
• Directs and coordinates all aspects of mission activity including identification of corporate contacts, solicitation of mission participants, definition of scope and scale of mission itinerary, coordination with contract vendors, and coordination with agency marketing staff on public relations issues and development of foreign language-based promotional materials. 
• Develops and identifies opportunities to maintain frequent contact with community groups to communicate the agency’s mission to interested parties. 

Pay Range: $94,000.00 annually

The Main Street Program Director leads the Kansas Main Street Coordinating Program in partnership with the National Main Street Center. Supports local Main Street directors and volunteers through outreach, site visits, and training. Connects communities to NetWork Kansas resources, revitalization programs, and arts grants. Promotes downtown revitalization as an economic development strategy across Kansas.

Responsibilities:

Program Operations

• Implements the re-establishment of the Kansas Main Street Coordinating Program with the National Main Street Center.
• Follows re-establishment of the program, by coordinating and supervising all elements of the Kansas Main Street program, assuring that the program operates within the proven standards of the Main Street Four Point Approach.
• Manages and monitors the budget for the Kansas Main Street Program
• Serves as the primary liaison to the National Main Street Center, inclusive of annual reporting, reinvestment data, and accreditation processes for local Main Street organizations.

Technical Assistance and Training

• Works in coordination with the local Main Street executive directors and volunteers through regular contact, periodic on-site visits, meetings, web-based trainings, and written information
• Coordinates, plans and delivers state and local downtown revitalization conferences and workshops
• Assists local Main Street programs in strategic planning, business recruitment and retention strategies, work plan development, market analysis and implementation of historic design plans.
• Assists with local Main Street organizations’ board and volunteer development.

Marketing

• Promotes and markets services of the Kansas Main Street program to communities interested in pursuing downtown revitalization as an economic development tool
• This will include activities designed to increase the number of communities applying designated status and helping to prepare communities for the competitive process
• Develops promotional materials for the program itself, training opportunities, program services and other opportunities as deemed necessary
• Serves as a subject matter expert on Main Street and its place as an economic development tool.

Pay Range: $83,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually
