TOPEKA – The Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (KCAIC) today announced it is accepting applications from artists to be listed on the Kansas Touring Artist Roster. Applicants can come from any artistic discipline including, but not limited to, music, theater, dance, visual arts, literary, public art, comedy, graphic novels, film, media arts, and more. Applications will be accepted through October 30.

“KCAIC is excited to offer increased networking and professional development opportunities for artists accepted on the roster such as Artist INC workshops,” KCAIC Interim Director Kate Van Steenhuyse said. “It’s a win-win as the artists gain increased visibility and connection to a peer community, and communities across the state have a chance to host more artists for events and programming.”

The KCAIC maintains the Touring Roster of Kansas-based companies and artists to assist in connecting artists and venues. Artists selected to be on the roster are featured on the Kansas Department of Commerce website and gain increased visibility for programming and gigs across the state. Venues and local communities interested in presenting Touring Roster artist programming also are eligible for funding support.

Applicants must:

  • Be experienced, high-quality artists with a professional reputation
  • Provide public presentations, performances or exhibitions of their work
  • Be able to provide meaningful educational activities with students and/or complementary activities with additional community populations such as workshops, master classes, lectures or demonstrations, arts education components, and residencies
  • Be willing to tour communities across the state

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of peers including roster artists and representatives from Kansas venues for artistic quality, the artist’s capability and experience, and impact of the artist’s programming. Current Touring Roster artists do not need to re-apply each year.

KCAIC will have an informational webinar at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23. To register, click here. Interested artists can find the application here.
