The International Division of the Kansas Department of Commerce announced today that the Kansas Global Cuisines and Cultures Week will take place next week, from Sunday, March 16, until Saturday, March 22. Organized by the Global Resources team, this initiative is part of a broader effort to foster awareness of opportunities for cross-cultural connections and spark interest in international business.
“The Sunflower State is home to a wide range of different cultures — and each plays a unique role in the vibrancy and economic momentum we have here in Kansas,” Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “I encourage all Kansans who have the opportunity, to visit some of the communities and businesses that are hosting for this exciting week of events. It’s a great way to learn about the variety of cultures in your area as well as support local businesses and art exhibits that contribute to the state economy.”
The statewide celebration showcases the rich global foods, culture and arts that can be found throughout the state. Throughout the week, there will be special events and featured attractions to highlight the diverse contributions that play a vital role in our state’s economy, all while fostering cultural exchanges between Kansas and other countries the globe.
“Food and arts are great ways to help people connect across different cultures,” International Division Director Laura Lombard said. “Experiencing and enjoying the numerous cultures found across Kansas can open doors to new interests and even international business.”
