Craig VanWey Named Commerce Employee of the Year

Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland today announced Craig VanWey has been named the Kansas Department of Commerce 2024 Employee of the Year. VanWey is Senior Regional Director for Commerce’s In-State Business Development team.

“For the last 20 years, Craig has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Kansas, and the proof is in the quality outcomes he’s produced,” Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “Craig provides outstanding leadership to his region and his team. He’s an accomplished local point of contact and has supported countless business expansions and relocations throughout his time here at Commerce. I congratulate Craig VanWey on this well-deserved accolade.”

VanWey has worked for Commerce for 20 years — all of which have been dedicated to helping Kansas companies of all sizes succeed. He supports the entire In-State Business Development team in addition to serving as the Southeast Regional Director.

VanWey is known for his ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with Kansas businesses and provide outstanding service. Internally, even when assigned to manage three regions of the state at the same time, he does so with purpose and pride. Fellow Commerce employees describe VanWey as someone who shows up every day ready to dig deep and get the job done. His unwavering dedication to the work and to the state is an inspiration to the entire agency.
