Topeka, Kan. – The graduation of the first class of a new training partnership between Hutchinson Community College, Spirit Aerosystems and the Kansas Department of Commerce took place on April 4, 2019.

Spirit has partnered with the Department of Commerce’s Workforce AID (Aligned with Industry Demand) program to train 500 individuals to be Aerospace Assembly Technicians by May 31, 2022.  Hutchinson Community College won the competitive bid to deliver the training at their Wichita training site.

All individuals who successfully complete the 8-week program, and then pass Spirit’s subsequent security checks, begin working as Aerospace Assembly Technicians for Spirit Aerosystems.

Students learn how to use specialized tools, how to read blueprints, and, most importantly, the safety rules necessary for this work.
