JUNCTION CITY – Camso, an industry leader in manufacturing off-road tires, wheels tracks and track systems, announced plans today to establish a new manufacturing operation in Geary County, Kansas.

Camso serves the material handling, construction, agriculture and powersport industries by manufacturing and distributing off-road tires, wheels, rubber tracks and undercarriage systems. It operates advanced R&D centers and manufacturing plants in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. The announced project will support the Agricultural and Construction division of Camso as an extension of the track manufacturing facility in Emporia, Kansas.

The Canada-headquartered company is investing approximately $36.4 million to lease, renovate and equip a 139,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Junction City, Kansas. Camso plans to begin renovations in August 2018 with the facility operational in January 2020 to meet the growing demand for tracks and track systems in the Agricultural and Construction industry. This will be the company’s second manufacturing operation in the state of Kansas and the first in Geary County.

According to Hugues Lajoie, Vice President and General Manager – Agriculture at Camso, “Junction City is a strategic location for Camso as it is close to our manufacturing plant in Emporia, Kansas. This proximity will allow for greater collaboration between the two plants when producing and delivering quality products to our customers.”
The company has begun recruitment for the first phase of hiring and anticipates the creation of approximately 40 full-time positions with two years.

“Manufacturing leaders such as Camso are drawn to our state’s central location, business-friendly climate, and excellent workforce, and we are thrilled this great company has chosen Junction City for its new plant,” said Governor Jeff Colyer, M.D. “We appreciate Camso’s commitment to continue growing new jobs here in Kansas and are looking forward to their continued success.”

“Junction City is extremely pleased to welcome Camso,” said Junction City Mayor Pat Landes. “Camso is a very well-established company that serves the material handling, construction, agriculture, and powersport industries and will continue to enrich the economic diversification of our community. The City partnered with the Junction City First and the Economic Development Commission to make this project possible.”

“This is an exciting day for Junction City and Geary County. We are extremely excited and honored that Junction City has been selected as the new manufacturing site for Camso,” said Rich Jankovich, chairman of the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce. “This brings great workforce opportunities with great wages and benefits to our community and shows the results of hard work and tenacity of Mickey Dean and our Economic Development Team. It is also a perfect example of regional cooperation in economic development.”
