Department of Commerce Makes $2 Million Available for COVID Resiliency Program The Department of Commerce will award $2 million through the Community Development Block Grant – COVID Resiliency (CDBG-CVR) program to enable cities and counties to address issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic when no other funds are available. Kansas Awarded Third Consecutive Gold Shovel from Area Development Magazine For the third straight year, Kansas has won Area Development magazine’s coveted Gold Shovel Award. The back-to-back-to-back accolade has no precedent in state history and reflects three consecutive years of record-setting private-sector investment. Spring 2023 Historic Economic Asset Lifeline (HEAL) Grant Recipients Announced Lieutenant Governor and Commerce Secretary David Toland today announced the recipients of the spring 2023 Historic Economic Asset Lifeline (HEAL) grants. A total of 17 projects from across the state are receiving nearly $918,000 in matching grant funds. Governor Kelly Announces 14 Rural Communities Receiving Funding for the Creation of New Murals The $76,071 in grants awarded will allow communities to create 38 new murals and public art projects that engage community residents and create a place for the community to gather and enjoy. Clark has spent her career in public service with an emphasis on rural policy and government operations. Clark served both the Graves and Sebelius Administrations in the Kansas Department of Commerce, first as Division Director for Ag Marketing and Community Development and then as Deputy Secretary. She served as State Director for USDA Rural Development and most recently returned to the Kansas Leadership Center as Vice-President, later becoming Acting President from September 2017 through March 2018.
“Patty will make an excellent Deputy Secretary,” said Acting Department of Commerce Secretary David Toland. “Her years of public service speak for themselves. She is a real leader and will bring a wealth of experience to both the job and the Department.”
