NEA Grant Panelist Recruitment

Offered by: National Endowment for the Arts |

Deadline/Expiration: July 10, 2025 —

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is now recruiting panelists for both summer and fall 2025 Grants for Arts Projects panel rounds. The process, for which there is an honorarium, involves participating in a virtual orientation, scoring approximately 40 applications, and participating in a second virtual meeting. Panelists generally have about six weeks to complete their review.

The NEA relies on panels composed of individuals who represent a broad range of artistic and cultural viewpoints to provide advice about the artistic excellence and artistic merit of proposals in a variety of funding categories. The NEA is also interested in boosting the number of panelists from areas that typically have had fewer panelists, including Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming, Puerto Rico, and Guam.

Most panelists are arts professionals who are qualified by their activities, training, skills, and/or experience in one or more art forms. Every panel also includes a layperson—someone knowledgeable about the arts but not engaged in the arts as a profession either full- or part-time. Often these are board members, donors, or other stakeholders in your organizations. If you have any potential laypeople in your orbit, please send them this information.

If your knowledge, expertise and/or professional experience includes Theater or Musical Theater, please complete the form linked below and also send an email to Ian-Julian Williams, Theater & Musical Theater Specialist at: [email protected].
