Evergy Energy Tip – July

Stay Cool and Spend Less in the Summer Heat

With a few simple changes, you can keep cool and reduce energy use during the hottest days of the year!

Replace or clean your air conditioner filters. This should be done every 1 – 3 months. Dirty filters reduce airflow, and your system won’t be as efficient over time. Did your AC barely survive last summer? If you’re an Evergy customer, find out how our rebate can save you up to $1,000 on a new energy-efficient system.

Be mindful of your appliances.  Set your washing machine to the appropriate water level and wash all but the dirtiest of loads in cold water.

Avoid placing lamps or TV sets near your thermostat. The thermostat senses heat from these appliances, which can cause the air conditioner to run longer than necessary.

Use LED Lighting. LED light bulbs use at least 75% less energy, and last up to 25 times longer, than incandescent lighting. They also emit very little heat.
