She is a practicing urologist with Associated Urologists, PA, in Manhattan, Kansas, and is the founder of Quantum Health and Wellness Center. What inspired you to start your business? I had three friends die from cancer before the age of 45. In medicine, we are not doing enough to prevent cancer. I want to make a difference.

What do you like about doing business in Kansas? There is a heightened awareness that there are alternatives to traditional medicine.

What is your business philosophy/mission statement? The mission of Quantum Health and Wellness Center is to focus on diagnosis and treatment of all ages while emphasizing preventative medicine, and the overall health and wellness of patients. QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION

Why should your business be included in the minority & women business spotlight? People should be educated that there are preventative measures in handling your health. There should be a focus on preventative. Medicine should be proactive instead of reactive.

What was the biggest “win” in your business’ history? The biggest win in the business is hearing the patients talk about how they are feeling better. This is why I do what I do. I want to help people.

What’s one valuable lesson you’ve learned that you would share with other business owners? I have learned to never give up. Even when all is looking grim, there is a light. Having the right team in the business can help to get to the goals.

Tell us an interesting and fun fact about your business. Our mascot is Prudence the Statue Dog. He greets all the guests at the front entrance. We are a close team that likes to play pranks on each other.
