About

For more than four decades, Ballet Wichita has been a pillar of the state’s arts organizations. Performing for over 23,000 people annually, Ballet Wichita helps stimulate a vibrant cultural landscape, while passionately advancing dance and the arts in Wichita and throughout the state.

With over 130 dancers performing with Ballet Wichita each year, the company is built upon a foundation of a talented troupe of regional dancers and professional guest artists representing major ballet companies from across North America.

In addition to touring the annual holiday favorite, the Nutcracker, the company tours shortened family-friendly productions across south-central Kansas in June and September. In 2019, the company added a full-length production of Cinderella to its touring roster.

Primary Program Description

The Nutcracker: Ballet Wichita’s Nutcracker, is a traditional and lavish fairytale ballet that reflects the warm, magical feelings of the holiday season. With great storytelling, the production is a favorite for people of all ages and an annual tradition for many families. Educational Activity Information

Ballet Wichita’s “Meet A Dancer” lecture-demonstrations are an opportunity for dancers and the presenting community to meet dancers in costume, see a short performance, and demystify the art form.

These can be programmed as classroom visits or as an assembly, allowing for as many students to participate as your space allows. Students will discover what classical ballet is, what it’s like to train and work as a dancer, why they wear tutus, how those shoes work, and how they can learn to dance too.

Space allowing, we’ll engage students in performing with Ballet Wichita dancers.
