LENEXA – Today, Governor Laura Kelly announced that Eurofins Viracor, a global leader in clinical diagnostic services, is opening a state-of-the-art laboratory in Lenexa that will create 235 new jobs.

Eurofins Viracor held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today on its 110,000-square-foot facility, which will consolidate the company’s local operations and corporate headquarters into one building. A total of 460 employees will be based in Lenexa.

“I’m proud that an innovative company like Eurofins Viracor has chosen to call Kansas home,” said Governor Laura Kelly. “By providing 235 more Kansans with high-quality jobs, Eurofins Viracor will continue its crucial work to keep our nation safe and healthy.”

The expansive lab will give the company additional capacity to support growth in needed testing services. Eurofins Viracor provides rapid test results to medical providers and transplant care teams. The new laboratory also strengthens the company’s ability to deliver results to providers, biopharmaceutical companies, and critically ill patients.

“The expanded facility will allow us to strengthen our testing capabilities to deliver rapid, innovative, and high-quality results and to meet the growing demand of our clinical, biopharma, and transplant diagnostic services,” said Michelle Altrich, President of Clinical Diagnostics for Eurofins Viracor.

In early 2021, the Kelly Administration announced its comprehensive economic development strategy, called the Kansas Framework for Growth. It was Kansas’ first strategy of the kind in more than 30 years and has contributed to the Kelly Administration successfully helping companies like Eurofins Viracor grow and expand in the state.

“Governor Kelly’s Kansas Framework for Growth specifically targets recruiting additional company headquarters and enhancing our state’s bioscience sector,” Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “Eurofins Viracor is the type of visionary, aggressive company we want to attract to Kansas.”

Company officials noted the strength and skill of Kansas’ talented workforce will also be a critical part of Eurofins Viracor’s future success.

“This new facility expands our presence in Johnson County, providing access to a talented workforce in both scientific and operational expertise,” said Jason Neat, President of BioPharma for Eurofins Viracor, “and brings us closer to a rich biomedical ecosystem in the area, to which we are proud to be part of and continue to foster.”

“We are proud to welcome Eurofins Viracor to the Lenexa community,” said Lenexa Mayor Michael Boehm. “The City of Lenexa worked diligently to create a new corridor ready for high-quality investment opportunities and Eurofins Viracor’s vision of choosing this site will be a catalyst for other development to follow.”
