OLATHE – Today, Governor Laura Kelly announced that KCAS Bioanalytical and Biomarker Services has opened a $28 million laboratory in Olathe that will create 175 new jobs for Kansans. Kansas Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary Paul Hughes attended the ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration of the state-of-the-art 70,000 square-foot facility on Thursday, October 27.

“Thanks to Kansas’ innovative and pro-business economy, our state’s bioscience sector is rapidly growing,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “KCAS’ investment only accelerates that forward progress, resulting in more good-paying jobs for Kansans and more top-tier talent moving to our communities.”

KCAS, an Integris BioServices company, is a fast-growing contract research organization supporting today’s biotech, pharmaceutical, and animal health drug development programs. The new laboratory will provide advanced technology and expertise across the complete R&D range of discovery, preclinical, and clinical studies. KCAS has been in business for over 40 years and its new facility is one of the largest bioanalytical facilities in the country.

“We are proud to officially celebrate the grand opening of our new purpose-built facility positioned in the Kansas Bioscience Park campus. The support of state and local leadership has been instrumental in KCAS making Kansas home to our growing organization,” said KCAS CEO John Bucksath. “This investment, along with the recent acquisitions of FlowMetric and Active Biomarkers, has positioned KCAS for global expansion and significant gains in capacity that allow us to attract expertise and serve our customers as the CRO of choice for the global pharma and biopharma industries. As one of the area’s largest employers, we continue to look for top talent to help us grow both locally and globally.”

“KCAS is a multi-faceted company with a strong reputation in the bioscience sector,” Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “Their innovative work provides highly attractive job opportunities for Kansans and will help keep our talent right here in the state.”

“Olathe is a community that is focused on finding high-quality, meaningful employment opportunities for our residents,” said John Bacon, Mayor of Olathe. “We are thrilled to have KCAS in the Kansas Bioscience Park and look forward to welcoming more businesses in the future.”
