SEED Grant and Collaboration Make the Village Green Project Possible in Clyde

Rendering of final project

The ORP spotlight of the month is the City of Clyde’s SEED project called “The Village Green”! Located in Cloud County, Clyde is a small town of 800 people. Their project focused on beautifying their downtown.  They demolished two dilapidated buildings between their library and city hall and are creating a beautiful multipurpose community space in its place for all to enjoy.

One thing that makes the Village Green project stand out to our office is the extensive collaboration and combination of funds to make a great project come to life. In addition to the SEED grant funds that were awarded to this community, Clyde also pledged $22,000, and contractors pledged to donate $21,000 of in-kind labor to help support the project. Since applying for the SEED grant, they have also received a $50,000 Dane G Hansen Foundation grant, a $15,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Cloud County, and a $3,000 grant from the Clyde Area Foundation.

Project coordinator, Molly Skocny said, “The City of Clyde has worked closely with a volunteer group called “Clyde in Action” to make this space become a reality for our small community. It has taken many honest conversations to ensure a safe and inviting space for all generations to gather. Strong teamwork and great communication have been essential in the process so far, as well as a little bit of compromise, but we are all excited to start seeing the vision come together and can’t wait to share this space with everyone. It is truly amazing what the combination of support from our city council and Mayor Genereux, the SEED Grant, and generous volunteers can accomplish!”

The collaboration of funds and stakeholders coming together is what is making this project such a success. We hope that everyone can get some inspiration from this collaborative effort, and make it happen in your community! Remember that our team is always here to help in any way we can!
