Primary Program Description

Out of This World: Music and Stories from Space

Blast off on an interactive journey through our solar system! Students will explore the planets, learn the differences between meteors, meteoroids, and meteorites, meet a space alien and discover how a solar eclipse works.

Life on Earth: The History of Life on our Planet

Journey back in time to 550 million years ago, when life began on planet Earth. We study the Paleozoic, the Mesozoic and the Cenozoic eras — marine life to dinosaurs to mammals. And we learn about evolution and extinction, including the day a giant asteroid hit planet earth.

Around the World: The Geography of Planet Earth

Whether unearthing the mysterious treasures of King Tut’s tomb, gasping in the thin atmosphere atop Mount Everest, or learning to swim with piranhas in the Amazon River of South America, this journey transports students to all seven continents and highlights interesting cultural and geographical details about each one. We also learn about map reading, the five oceans, and landforms, including local landforms.

Book Detective: Zar & the Broken Spaceship

Originally developed as an author event, Book Detective teaches young readers the five Ws (Who, What, When, Where, and Why) in the context of musical stories. After each story students are asked about character, setting, time and plot, and they identify the problem and the solution. The show culminates with a reading of Dino’s children’s book Zar and the Broken Spaceship.
