KAC Strategic Planning 2026-2027

Help Shape the Future of Arts & Culture in Kansas

The Kansas Arts Commission (KAC), the state’s official arts agency, is developing a new five-year strategic plan to guide its work supporting artists, arts organizations and communities statewide. The planning process will identify priorities, strengthen partnerships and develop practical strategies that advance arts and culture, improve quality of life and strengthen the creative economy. Input from artists, cultural organizations, community leaders and residents throughout Kansas will help shape the plan.

Why is KAC developing a new Strategic Plan?
The plan will:

  • Establish a shared vision for arts and culture in Kansas;
  • Identify priorities for the next five years;
  • Strengthen support for the creative sector statewide; and
  • Provide a roadmap for action and progress tracking.

How will we get there?
The planning process includes:

  • Research and data analysis;
  • Statewide market research and asset mapping;
  • Review of existing programs, policies and accomplishments;
  • Community meetings and virtual stakeholder engagement; and
  • Benchmarking of other state arts agencies.

“The arts are a vital part of economic development – they’re how we remind each other why we do the work we do to build our communities and our world. Sharing beauty and perspective with the people of Kansas is a fantastic way to ensure they’re happy to continue living and working in our state.”
Lieutenant Governor and Commerce Secretary David Toland
