About

For over 50 years, Ballet Wichita has been a pillar of the state’s arts organizations. Performing for over 23,000 people annually, Ballet Wichita helps stimulate a vibrant cultural landscape, while advancing dance and the arts in Wichita and throughout the state.

With over 130 dancers performing with Ballet Wichita each year, the company is built upon a foundation of a talented troupe of regional dancers, local professional dancers and guest artists representing major ballet companies from across North America. Starting in 2024, Ballet Wichita launched the first professional ballet company in Kansas. Ballet Wichita’s Professional and Pre-Professional Company represent the highest standard of artistic excellence in the state.

In addition to touring the annual holiday favorite, the Nutcracker, the company tours full length spooky ballet in the fall and a family-friendly production in June and July. The Summer Touring Production will change each year for a 3–4-year rotation. The 2025 Summer Production is Alice in Wonderland.

Educational Activity Information

Ballet Wichita’s “Meet A Dancer” lecture-demonstrations are an opportunity for dancers and the presenting community to meet dancers in costume and get a peek behind the curtain and learn what it is like to dance, learn some steps yourself and get your questions answered.

These can be programmed as classroom visits or as an assembly, allowing for as many students to participate as your space allows. Students will discover what classical ballet is, what it’s like to train and work as a dancer, why they wear tutus, how those shoes work, and how they can learn to dance too.

Space allowing, we’ll engage students in performing with Ballet Wichita dancers.
