City of Wichita – Integrated Public Art for Planeview Community Center (2 Opportunties)

Davis Cohen Art, on behalf of SFS Architecture and the City of Wichita, invites professional artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for two integrated public art opportunities (one exterior, one interior) for the new Planeview Community Center. They seek artists with a proven track record of delivering durable, public artworks and completing projects of similar scope and complexity.

Located in the historic Planeview neighborhood near Planeview Park and adjacent to Colvin Elementary School, the community center will include the Neighborhood Resource Center and expanded recreation programming, with anticipated completion in Fall/Winter 2027. Serving Wichita City Council District 3, the artwork should educate and inspire by reflecting the area’s rich history and contemporary identity.

Sites include: (1) a prominent location on the primary entrance façade (exterior), and (2) a suspended aerial installation at the welcome entry extending through the main corridor (interior).
