Visiting Artists Program

Visiting Artists provides funding for eligible organizations to engage and deepen the impact of arts programming on local and underserved audiences through exposure to and interaction with professional visiting artists. Presenters may book artists in any discipline, not just in performing arts. Projects should strive to integrate an arts discipline into non-arts content areas; help interpret an exhibition, performance or presentation; and support community development goals and objectives.

Applications for Kansas Touring Roster Visiting Artists grants are accepted on a rolling basis but must be submitted no fewer than 60 days prior to the planned event. Visiting Artist grants for presenting artists not on the Touring Roster are accepted annually in conjunction with other KAC open grant application periods. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. CST on Friday, February 23, 2024. For non-Touring Roster Visiting Artist grants, all grant activities and expenditures must take place within the grant period, July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025. Request Amount:

Grant Amount: $1,000 – $7,500
Kansas Touring Roster requests may utilize a $1,000 credit to assist with meeting match or covering artist fees in their application budget. See the Touring Roster page for more information.

Match Requirement:

There is a 1:1 match requirement for this program. The total project budget must be at least twice the amount of the grant request. Applicant organizations based in in communities with populations of 15,000 or fewer may claim in-kind non-monetary donations as up to 100% of the required matching funds.

Who Qualifies:

• Established 501(c)(3) organizations
• Units of local governments (including schools, universities, libraries, arts agencies, etc.)
• Federally recognized tribal communities
