The Eurasia Healthcare & Medical Technologies Coffee Series will highlight opportunities for U.S. businesses to enter three growing markets in Eurasia: Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.

This event is focusing on Uzbekistan. Participants will receive a market briefing from U.S. commercial officials and enjoy a lively panel discussion with U.S. companies that have entered the market as well as local distributors.

With a population of 34 million, Uzbekistan has the potential to become one of the largest healthcare markets in Central Asia. The Uzbekistani government has introduced various healthcare reforms since 2017 to improve the quality of healthcare services, to encourage private sector involvement in infrastructure, and to initiate a telemedicine system to reach distant parts of the country. In 2020, healthcare expenditure in the country reached $1.9 billion; close to 10 percent of this total was spent on procurement of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. According to the U.S. Census, the U.S. exported $4.8 million worth of medical technologies to Uzbekistan in 2020—166 percent growth in just two years, which places the U.S. in fourth position in the market
