Traveling With Toland: Introduction

May 20, 2019

Hitting the Road

I’m grateful for the opportunity to travel our state and connect with business and community leaders who work every day to make our state a better place to live, learn and work! As I travel, I look forward to using this site to post about upcoming events, share reflective content from previous trips and pass along other important updates related to the Department of Commerce and the commercial environment in the state of Kansas.

We have a lot of ground to cover!

Our state is large and economically-diverse, and there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution for growth. Instead, it requires deep engagement with communities all across Kansas in order to identify opportunities, address challenges and breathe new life into our state. We hope you’ll follow along with my travels, share your thoughts and questions and look out for opportunities to connect in a community near you!

Why now?

By traveling the state and establishing relationships in communities large and small, it is my hope that Kansans will see a willing and engaged partner in the Department of Commerce. We hope to connect with individuals, businesses and communities looking to elevate their impact and grow for the future. Through these networks and partnerships, we as Kansans can support our shared goals and—together—build healthier, more vibrant communities.

You can keep track of our progress on social media using the hashtag #TolandTravels or follow me or the Department of Commerce on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram.

We’ll see you on the road!

Secretary David Toland
