Governor Kelly Announces Kansas Moving Forward with $451.7M High-Speed Internet Deployment Plan Governor Laura Kelly today announced federal approval of the state’s Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Initial Proposal Volume 2, providing an investment of more than $450 million to expand Kansas’ high-speed internet infrastructure. Funding will be granted to areas that have been identified as underserved through a competitive application process that will begin in July. Target Sectors

To align with the evolving economic landscape in Kansas, the Office of Innovation has expanded its focus on the target sectors outlined in our Framework for Growth.

2024 Target Sector Priorities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sector-specific strategies and initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth within the FFG’s targeted sectors.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities, challenges, and trends within the targeted sectors.
  • Collaborate with industry leaders, stakeholders, and government officials to support sector development efforts.
  • Identify and recommend policy changes and other measures to promote the growth of the targeted sectors

As a part of the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Office of Innovation recognizes the vital link between innovation and economic development. By nurturing a culture of innovation, the Office supports the creation and implementation of new Sector Growth Strategies and Initiatives that will drive Kansas’ economic growth and resilience in 2024 and beyond. The Office of Innovation aims to position Kansas as a global leader in innovation, leveraging its unique assets and opportunities.
