About

Jamie Campbell is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, storyteller, and improviser based out of Kansas City, KS. He has spent the past fifteen years bringing laughter to audiences across the United States. His debut stand-up album, Tell Me You’re Proud of Me, debuted at #1 on the Amazon comedy charts. His critically acclaimed comedy special, Big Dad Energy, is available on Amazon Prime, and his follow-up special, Middle Man, was recently released from Dry Bar Comedy. His tours and festival appearances have received rave reviews and garnered awards at venues across the U.S.

Jamie often pairs his live shows with engaging and empowering community workshops in stand-up, storytelling, and improvisation. When he is not on tour, Jamie performs with the resident company of The Bird Comedy Theater and teaches classes as a member of their training center faculty.

Primary Program Description

Headlining Stand-up Comedy Performance Jamie Campbell’s award-winning stand-up comedy show is full of pop culture nostalgia, and humor-filled soul-searching that hits particularly hard for Gen-Xers and Millennials. His observations on middle-age and vivid storytelling combine with interactive segments that have the audience wondering where he’ll take them next. Jamie customizes his show content and length from 30-60 minutes, depending on the needs of the venue and his shows can be rated anywhere from ALL AGES to PG-13, so that his material is always appropriate for everyone in the room.

Program Fee

Performance fees range from $500 to $1500, plus travel and when more than 100 miles from Kansas City, lodging and per diem. Fee range is on a sliding scale, depending on capacity of venue.

NOTE: Need-based discounts for nonprofits and community organizations are available, and for certain venues a door split is negotiable in lieu of a flat rate.

Stop Writing – Start Talking (Stand-up Workshop)

This stand-up comedy workshop de-mystifies stand-up comedy by getting participants out of their head and on their feet. Students will learn to trust their instincts and do stand-up without a script, learning elements of crowd-work, riffing and being present with their audience. This workshop is perfect for the performer who wants to try stand-up but has been talking themselves out of it. The only way to do stand-up comedy is to get up and start talking. Participants will gain practical experience working on their feet, and the session will close-out with a Q&A designed to help those who are just starting on their comedy journey. Duration: 2 ½ hours
Maximum Participants: 12 Your Life Your Story (Storytelling Workshop) This storytelling workshop is designed to help participants effectively share stories from moments that have shaped their lives. Students will learn storytelling techniques, gain practical experience sharing with each other, and will walk away with a plan to shape their personal experiences into polished, relatable stories. This workshop is designed to be paired with an optional storytelling showcase, hosted by myself, where participants will tell their stories in front of a live audience. Duration: 2 ½ hours Maximum Participants: 12 Big Laughs! (Improv Performance Workshop) This workshop focuses on getting the most out of a comedy performance, and is designed for those who want to get in front of an audience and get big laughs. Participants will play classic improv games and learn tips and tricks on how to take an audience suggestion and turn it into comedy gold. NOTE: This workshop is designed to be paired with an optional showcase, hosted by myself, where participants will perform in front of a live audience. Duration: 2 ½ hours

Educational Activity Information

Everybody’s Funny!

This community workshop is all about play. Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of improvisation and how it can help them communicate and collaborate in their own lives. When improvising, performers must listen and work together, building off of what each person brings to the table. These are the same skills we must cultivate in order to have better relationships at work, home, and among friends. In this two-hour workshop, students will learn the basic principles of “Yes, And,” and put those skills into action by playing classic improv games. This is perfect for icebreakers, team-building, or anyone who wants to connect with their community and have some big laughs. Designed for up to twenty participants. Available for nonprofits and community organizations when scheduling allows.
