Initiated in 2021, these grants helped communities with fewer than 10,000 residents create murals and public art projects to beautify public gathering spaces and serve as new tourist attractions. The Kansas Arts Commission has funded 35 murals in 24 communities in the past two years and added 14 artists to its Mural and Public Art Roster. Arts Commission programs are designed to utilize artists and arts organizations to increase community vibrancy and provide space for artistic expression and public engagement.
