One of the first broadband grants for KOBD funded through the CARES Act and distributed in 2020. This program was meant to provide emergency broadband infrastructure for the COVID-19 pandemic. Internet service providers (ISPs), local governments, nonprofits, and other private entities were eligible to apply for the grants. The grants were competitive and featured a 20% matching contribution requirement. A total of 65 projects were funded across the state. These projects included both fiber and fixed wireless connectivity solutions.
